Swiss Post pools competencies in goods logistics under Swiss Post Cargo

Bern, 5 March 2025 – With effect from 1 March 2025, Swiss Post has consolidated its transport and logistics services in goods logistics with its new Swiss Post Cargo market presence. Bringing together brands that previously operated separately in goods logistics in Switzerland and abroad under a single brand positions the services in transport and logistics as a pooled, independent offering on the market.

In a first step in March 2025, the Swiss Post subsidiary PostLogistics Ltd and the southern German subsidiaries Bächle Logistics GmbH and Logistik Center Villingen (LCV) GmbH, will have a new look and operate on the market under the uniform name Swiss Post Cargo. For a transition period, the other Swiss Post goods logistics subsidiaries, including the Portmann Group in France, Iemoli Trasporti in Italy and Nolden Logistics GmbH, OSA Logistik GmbH and OSA Spedition GmbH in Germany, will carry the endorsement “Part of Swiss Post Cargo”. By the end of 2027, all goods logistics subsidiaries are expected to operate as Swiss Post Cargo under the Swiss Post brand. Management of the subsidiaries will remain unchanged.

Roland Heizmann, Head of Goods Logistics at Swiss Post, explains: “For our customers, well-functioning cross-border flows of goods and supply chains are essential. We want to provide the best possible support in their business activities and grow together with them. That’s why we’re consolidating our identity and pooling the services we offer in the core markets of Switzerland and the major neighbouring economic areas in Germany, Italy and France. At Swiss Post Cargo, we’re a one-stop shop with a comprehensive portfolio of cross-border logistics services. In everything we do, the needs of our customers are our top priority. It’s why the changeover to the new brand identity is taking place step by step, to allow us to fully focus on customer service during the transition period,” says Heizmann.

For Swiss Post, goods logistics is a core business and an attractive growth market in the medium to long term. With its “Swiss Post of tomorrow” strategy, it is focusing consistently on the changing needs of its customers. Swiss Post is expanding its leading position as a provider of logistics services in Switzerland. The focus in the logistics services segment is therefore on growth in the goods logistics market to help offset the decline in the letter market and strengthen the company’s overall market position. Goods logistics, in turn, makes a major contribution to securing supply chains, connecting industrial and trading companies to national and international goods flows. Swiss Post Cargo is emerging as a new force in the transport and logistics sector, characterized by integrated services, greater efficiency thanks to digitization and transparent communication with customers at all times.

A strong Swiss Post

With the “Swiss Post of tomorrow” strategy, Swiss Post has set itself a clear goal: to consistently improve and develop its entire range of products and services and to continue to offer its customers added value in the future. That is why it is pooling specific strategic competencies under the Swiss Post brand: Post Advertising combines physical and digital advertising solutions, Swiss Post Cargo connects companies in goods logistics to national and international flows of goods across borders and offers state-of-the-art logistics solutions, and Swiss Post Cybersecurity protects digital information and offers IT security solutions. Swiss Post is gearing itself specifically to new markets and target groups, enabling its customers to access a modern, future-oriented and one-stop public service.

Swiss Post is a diversified company operating in four markets: logistics, communication, mobility and financial services. Its services range from letter, parcel and newspaper delivery to goods logistics, as well as digital communication solutions in the healthcare sector and for public authorities and companies. In the mobility market, Swiss Post operates bus routes for regional passenger transport throughout Switzerland, maintains its own vehicle fleet and offers sustainable mobility solutions for business customers. Swiss Post’s subsidiary PostFinance is one of the leading providers in payment transactions, for savings and investments, as well as retirement planning and financing solutions. Within Switzerland, Swiss Post generated revenue of 7,279 billion francs with around 46,000 employees in 2023. The Universal Postal Union named Swiss Post a world-leading postal service for the eighth time in a row in 2024.
